better beacons on Varadero 125 2008
Hello, my name is Giovanni, i'm italian and i'm 16.
i don't speak french, but i'm asking myself if you are so nice to help me.
I have a Honda Varadero 125 2008, iniectjon, and the optical group of my moto, the beacons, aren't much luminous.
i use my motorbike often in the night, ad it's dangerous with the original beacons,so i ask you where i can find some better beacons for my moto without to burn fuses or the beacons itselfs... i want to buy the beacons on a internet site, because i'm in italy...
I'm waiting for answers,
thank you very much

thank you!pierreblc a écrit :Hi Gio,
You can find other headlights on various web sites. Just look for BA20D bulbs (connexion ref.).
Try to buy bulbs more than 30/35W. You should find 40/45 W quite easily.
Buon Viaggio
on ebay i found a beacon BA20D 45/40W, is it good? after this, i found on the best italian beacons's site, OSRAM, a beacon BA20D, 40W, that function for over 500 hours...
and why is wrote or "45/40W", what is "45" and what is "40"?

If I were you, I'd go for a full Xenon kit. Would be really worth the hassle of fixing it since you have to chang the bulb anyway.
Otherwise, go for H4 bulbs (same as the ones you can find on a car). Needs a bit fixing, but cheaper and more reliable

Are you sure that the beam of your lights is correctly adjusted ???

...
Hi Gio, you have 2 ways to solve your problem. The simple way is to buy the 40/45W you found on e-bay: you just have to replace bulbs.
The meaning of 40 is for normal lignts, and 45is for wide road lights.
But the solution proposed by VTD is much efficient: then, you actaullay get a very clear light, and a fine view on the road. of coursen some work has to be done then.
on the road later ?

Hi gio, I'm not coming ere on a daily basis (nothing to do with the colour of my bike Pat31, thanks all the same
) but I read your post.
As mentioned before, you have the choice of replacing the bulb (the big one does both high (45W) and low (40W) beams, the wee ones are just positioning lights) or having a full xenon kit (much more efficient but more expensive) fitted on your bike...
I have no idea as to who might sell them on the internet, but you can try and send us links to bulbs you might find and we'll try and give you more details if you need
And by the way Pat31, blue bikes rock! I'd even go further and say they rule it all! Just wait for my leg to be fixed, and you'll see what "bending a curb" actually means
OK, I know the way...

Hello Giovanni,
I just find out your concern regarding headlights.
Please be aware that all of us have the same problem. Original bulbs are not efficient, and many of us have already replaced them.
Original bulbs are 35/35w (not halogen), with bayonet base BA20D (20mm diameter). Further to your request, the first 35 corresponds to the wattage for the low beam, and the second one to the full beam.
- So, you can replace them by halogen bulbs with the same wattage 35/35w (or a bit higher power 45/45w), and with the same bayonet base.
In this case, not any modification of your wiring or fuse is necessary. This is the simplest solution. A lot of suppliers exist on Internet, but be careful because many are not reliable...
Some of us bought BA20D halogen bulbs to the following french supplier with good results and reliabiliy:
http://www.francelampes.com/pro/catalog ... _id=151665
They should be able to send through the post to Italy.
- Then, the other possibility is to replace the original bulbs by H4 bulbs 55/60w, which are cheaper and more reliable, as explained by VTD. But it is necessary to replace the wiring due to the different base, and to install relays and new fuses.
- Last but not least, the full xenon kits, with all constraints mentioned by VTD...
Hoping that this useful for you. !

i want to buy this beacons: http://cgi.ebay.it/Birne-Gluehbirne-BA2 ... .m63.l1177, tell me if they are that i'm searching.
The last question, this lamp that i'm buying, i will replace it to the low-beam headlights or to the high beam headlights (dazzling lights)?

They look like it. You also have these from the UK (though 50W means you may have to shift the fuse under your saddle, which is quite easy to do) Anyway, you can always ask the seller directly
Pour les francophones, ces ampoules me semblent correspondre, si quelqu'un peut confirmer? (Elle ont une drôle de trogne quand même...)

I guess your bulb is a standard one, not a halogen. You will have the same result as with your current ones...
Look at the picture provided by VTD, a halogen one has a different shape, not so round.
Why you don’t use the link that I provided to you with the French supplier ? You are sure to have halogen one which has better performances.
Regarding your question on the low-beam headlights or to the high beam headlights, I am not sure to understand very well. That is for sure is that one bulb has both functions: low-beam headlight and high beam headlight (two filaments).

ok, VTD would you confirm me that i will buy two of this lamps: http://cgi.ebay.fr/HONDA-XLR125-VARADER ... 0106155193, i will replace the fuse sited under saddle 10A with a 15A fuse, and i enjoy it whithout any problem?
Well, I think you should ask the seller for a start, but if you want to replace your lights, there are two of them on the 'Dero anyway... So you might want to replace both of them... As for the fuse, I am no electrician, and noone gave a proper answer yet. This is only a rookie's point of view JF & I gave you
Anyway, it's your call. I am no mechanic and I am happy enough with the original lights, so that's only an advice from what can be found on the forum and elsewhere...
You can also check with Access-Moto who have a BA20D 40/45W in their catalog here. Give them a call in order to make sure they would fit your 'Dero. Their phone number is (0033) 04 67 100 200 or email
I guess you're big enough a boy to check for yourself. Don't take all we've said for granted but ask for a second view
By the way, have you tried asking on the international forums I've posted for you? They might be helpful too and even have other possibilities to help you with your issue
